Rongli is a small town in the East district of Sikkim, India. It is situated at an altitude of 1,500 metres (4,900 ft). The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport which is about 150 kilometres (93 mi) away.
Rongli has been declared as one of the best places to watch birds in high altitude by many bird enthusiasts and experts. The town is home to many rare and endangered birds such as the Himalayan Griffon, Lammergeier, Eurasian Jay, Blue Whistling Thrush, Tibetan Snowcock, etc.
The best time to visit Rongli for bird watching is from October to April. During this period, many migratory birds can be seen in the town.
